Outing to the Cirencester Golf Club on 15th May 2013
30 members of the society took on the challenge of Cirencester Golf Club. The course had benefited from some recent rain and warmth and was in good condition with tricky greens (for some not so tricky!!).
Before commencing play Chairman Phil welcomed back Elizabeth from her injury and wished Ray Cordes all the best for his impending heart bypass operation.
The Chairmans Cap was awarded to Steve Ford, and lovely he looked wearing it.
The Stableford competition was, as always, closely contested with Tom Barnes playing of a 10 handicap winning with 41 points Mike Lewis runner up with 40 points and Brian Lawrence in third place with 39 points. The average overall score was a creditable 31.4 points.
Warren did the double by winning both the nearest in two shots on the 6th and nearest the pin on the 13th. Well done to all the contestants and winners!
There was a power cut at the club which threatened the dinner but power was restored just in time for the original menu to be served which was very good.
The next outing for the society is at St. Pierre on 30th June / 1st July. There are still a couple of vacancies so if anyone wants to go please contact Warren as soon as possible before he has to confirm final numbers.
Full details for this outing will follow shortly.
Happy golfing
Russ Ralph.
