Broadway GC (100th Day)

On this special occasion 35 members struggled round the course in poor weather conditions. 61 members and guests attended the dinner in the evening which was a huge success.

100th Day outing to Broadway Golf Club on 23rd May 2014

The committee felt that all players and partners who attended the dinner had a memorable day.

A big vote of thanks go to all who helped organise the event and especially our Chairman Phil who not only provided a full printed programme for the day, but also a history of the winners of the previous 99 outings, and hosted the evening.Jon Hawthorns team headed by Adam provided an excellent dinner, and the bar staff were relentless in supplying the necessary liquid refreshments. Thanks to all at BGC.

The post dinner entertainment was started with a few verses from our resident Poet Laureate Steve Jordan on the members of our society. Bill Payne gave us an insight on how to play golf on Christmas morning without it costing an arm and leg!!! Our own singing duet of Mike and David rounded off the entertainment with a rendition of 'Our Golf Clubs on our back' to the tune of The Happy Wanderer. Well done lads you all did our society proud.

Unfortunately the weather did not live up to the occasion and all 35 players were subjected to rain for the whole round, albeit that the course held up well but the overhead conditions had an effect on the scoring.

For those not too tired the evening concluded with après golf at The Bell Inn.





Next outing to St. Pierre Golf Club on Sunday 29th and Monday 30th June 2014

Registration at 9.15am (£10 sweep etc) 1st tee 10.00am

Draw for Sunday will be made on 20th June. Mondays’ draw will be in reverse order with the best scores on Sunday having latest starting time.

Cost £99 per head. Settle own account with hotel

Members should make their own breakfast arrangements at the hotel on arrival before playing on Sunday.

Dinner dress code. Society ties and jackets.

McWolder Cup on 11th July at Broadway Golf Club

The two rounds at St. Pierre will be the final qualifiers for 2014 and Phil will announce the team accordingly.

Golf Day at Welford GC

On a beautiful warm and sunny spring day 22 members met at Welford GC for an individual stableford coupled with a yellow ball competition.

100th Outing Celebration

On Friday 23rd May the Society will celebrate its 100th outing at Broadway with an afternoon golf competition and an evening dinner to which partners are invited.

The committee agreed that despite forward tees and mats that this was a good venue and we were welcomed and provided with an excellent golfers supper, a venue to consider again in the future.
