Outing to Broadway Golf Club on 8th April 2015
A warm sunny spring afternoon greeted the 26 players in our annual home competition for the Broadway Cup. Short sleeves and even shorts (for some) were the order of the day.
There was no presentation of the Chairman's Cap this being a tribute to the sad loss of David Milnes-James. David was never awarded this cap and proved what a true gentleman and golfer he was, and will be sorely missed by all and especially to The Bell Inn Golf Society members.
The scores on the day were surprising low with an average just under 31 points. The greens were quick and tricky to read. Many members were heard to say 'if only the putts dropped'.
Roger Yeates, however, had no such problems returning a great winning score of 41 points Mike Barnes was runner up on 38 points with third place going to Duncan Beale with 36 points.
Nearest the pin on the 8th hole was won by Bobby Webb with Keith Burke winning the nearest the pin in two on the 14th hole.
Jon Hawthorne and his catering team provided an excellent carvery dinner with The Bell Inn the venue for apres golf.
Our next outing is to Moseley Golf Club on Wednesday 13th May and the entry list is at The Bell Inn.
